Recognition of vascular emergencies in primary care

Vascular surgeon Mr Venu Bhamidi discusses vascular emergencies including  acute limb ischemia, abdominal vascular emergencies, aortic dissection, and vascular trauma.  He will focus on recognition and initial assessment of these conditions within a primary care setting.

Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon

Venu is a Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon who has trained through several international centres of excellence and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He currently has a busy public practice at Auckland City Hospital, with his private practice based at the Gilgit Road Specialist Centre & Mercy Hospital. He was appointed as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland in 2014, and is actively involved in all aspects of Vascular Surgical teaching and research.

Venu’s practice includes the full scope of arterial and venous pathology, ranging from varicose veins to complex endovascular thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair. Venu has a particular sub-speciality interest in diabetic peripheral arterial disease, foot wounds, infections and limb salvage. He is the clinical lead for the ADHB Mutli-Disciplinary Diabetic Foot Service and is currently involved in setting up a similar service at WDHB.
