COVID-19 vaccination programme in the metro Auckland region – the critical next steps

In this webinar, the Northern Region Health Coordination Centre specialists covers the next steps for the COVID-19 vaccination programme, as well as primary care’s vital role in helping to vaccinate those who may be feeling unsure or having difficulty accessing services.

The webinar will include:

  • How to talk about COVID-19 vaccinations – building trust in vaccination by Dr Jessica Berentson-Shaw. She recently produced the very helpful communications tip sheet for The Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC).
  • Innovative strategies to vaccinate the hard to reach - Dr Siobhan Trevallyan, Waitakere Union Health Centre, and Sara Lewis, Practice Manager, Kawau Bay Health talking about their practical experience and sharing tips.

Dr Jessica Berentson-Shaw

Jess is a public narrative researcher, advisor and Co-Director of The Workshop. She is also a senior research associate at the Public Policy Institute at the University of Auckland. She recently produced the communications tip sheet ‘How to talk about COVID-19 vaccinations – building trust in vaccinations’ for The Immunisation Advisory Centre.


Cherie Buchanan

Cherie is the Quality Manager for ProCare Primary Health Organisation.  Usually, her job entails all things Cornerstone and Foundation Standard but currently, she is the project lead for GP clinics on-boarding for COVID-19 vaccinations. She has had extensive experience as a Practice Manager in the Auckland region.


Matt Hannant

Matt is leading the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme for the NRHCC. Matt was Director of Strategy and Transformation in the National Health Service in London and has a background in health economics and health policy.

He came to New Zealand in 2017 and is the General Manager of Primary Care at Counties Manukau DHB. He brings together operations, project management, implementation, equity and functional support teams to deliver this critical public health programme.


Sara Lewis

Practice Manager, Kawau Bay Health. She has 13 years experience as a Practice Manager in General Practice as well as extensive experience in the Emergency Services in the UK & NZ and has been involved in national change management programmes in both countries. She is passionate about delivering services locally and adapting services to meet the individual needs of each community.


Mary Losē

Mary Losé is the Chief Customer Experience Officer at Whakarongorau Aotearoa, where she leads the cultural service integration of the COVID Vaccination Māori Healthline.  She has wide-ranging experience in the private and public sector, in Communications, Media and Marketing, having worked with the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, Kāinga ora and BNZ.  She has a Masters in Business Administration.


Siobhan Trevallyan

Dr Siobhan Trevallyan is a GP at Waitakere Union Health Centre, and the Youth Health Hub. She’s working hard on the vaccination programme, and is keen to see all our people protected as quickly as possible. Her passions are improving access to health services, quality improvement and effective communication.
