Winter therapeutics: COVID-19 and other respiratory infections

This winter is going to be challenging for primary care, with COVID-19 in the community, as well as other seasonal respiratory infections.

This webinar will focus on the latest winter modelling for COVID-19 and other respiratory infections and what therapeutics to consider and when. The panel will provide practical advice and tips for COVID-19, flu, RSV and strep throat management.

 

Presenters 

 

Andrew Old

Andrew is a public health physician and is both the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Waitematā DHB, and the Clinical Director, Health Gain for Auckland and Waitematā DHBs. In January 2020 he was seconded to the COVID-19 response for the Northern Region as the clinical lead of Planning & Intelligence in the Northern Region Health Coordination Centre (NRHCC).  He has been Chief Clinical Officer for the NRHCC since February 2022.


 

Anthony Jordan

Anthony is the Northern Region Health Coordination Centre's associate chief clinical officer and clinical director for the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
He is one of only two Māori clinical immunologists in Aotearoa.
Anthony is a member of Te Rōpū Whakakaupapa Urutā; and has been on the ground vaccinating, bringing information about the COVID-19 vaccine to the people and is heavily involved in outreach activities, including door-knocking campaigns to lift vaccination rates.

 


 

Christine McIntosh

Christine is a GP and is one of two clinical directors for the Northern Region Health Coordination Centre’s ‘Whanau HQ - Care in the Community’ programme. This initiative oversees care of people with Covid-19 and their families who are isolating at home in the Auckland area. Her usual roles are as a GP liaison at Counties Manukau Health and also a senior research fellow at the University of Auckland in the Department of Paediatrics Child and Youth Health.

 


 

Adrian Trenholme

Adrian is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics, Child and Youth Health at the University of Auckland.

 


 

Michael Maze

Michael is a Respiratory and Infectious Disease Physician based at the University of Otago Christchurch and Canterbury District Health Board.

 


 

Michael Hammond

Michael is a project manager and pharmacist for Auckland & Waitemata DHBs Primary Care Planning & Funding Team. He is currently leading the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccine in community pharmacies across Auckland Metro.
