Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a third wave behavioural therapy that aims to help people maximise human potential for a full, rich, and meaningful life.  ACT has its theoretical roots in functional contextualism and behavioural and evolutionary science.

To understand our patients, we need to know the context of their life and how they have learned to adapt to life's difficulties. ACT research has exploded over the last several years, and there has been over 900 (500+ ) randomised-controlled trials investigating its efficacy.  There is now moderate-strong evidence for using ACT as an effective treatment for chronic pain, depression, anxiety disorders and psychosis.

This brief workshop provides an overview of ACT and its core treatment processes.  This highly engaging workshop uses a combination of didactic, conversational, and experiential learning approaches.

Participants will walk away understanding the treatment having seen ACT in action.
