Intrauterine contraceptive devices

IUCDs (intrauterine contraceptive devices) are forms of long acting reversible contraception (LARC).

They have low failure rates and are cost effective even after the first year of use (Long-acting reversible contraception NICE Guideline 2014). They may be non hormonal (Copper IUCD) or hormonal, containing levonorgestrel (Mirena, Jaydess).
