Cervical Screening Update: From July, it's all about HPV
Like many areas in healthcare in Aotearoa/NZ, cervical screening does not occur on a level playing field. The National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP) is embarking on the biggest change to cervical
screening in our professional lifetimes. The changes that will happen in July have the potential to abolish the inequities in cervical cancer in Aotearoa. A clear understanding of HPV and its relationship to cervical cancer and pre-cancer is essential to providing accurate information to screening participants.
This talk will focus on the rationale for the changes to the screening program, the link between oncogenic HPV and cancer, how cervical screening will change, the role of colposcopy, and what we can do to make sure that cervical screening is accessible to all. This session will be a bucket-list destination for anyone involved in cervical screening! Bring all your questions about HPV-based cervical screening and colposcopy!
