Maryann is passionate about teaching Pacific Health, Pacific Health Research and Health Equity. She sits on various boards and committees, including Pharmac Primary Care Medicines Equity for Maori and Pacific /He Ako Hiringa Expert Advisory Board, Medical Advisory Committee NZ Breast Foundation, Health Research Council Panel Committee, Director Membership Board for Pasifika Medical Association and member of the Pacific Chapter RNZCGP and Pacific GP Network member. She is also an experienced Clinical Lead in PACMAT ( Pacific Medical Assistance Team- Pasifika Medical Association) involved in Humanitarian work in New Zealand and Pacific Islands including deployments to Samoa for Measles Outbreak 2019, Cyclone Gabrielle in Hawkes Bay Feb 2023, Cyclone Kevin and Judy in Vanuatu April 2023 and Pacific Islands Leaders Forum Meeting Cook Islands Nov 2023. She has worked in Samoa, American Samoa, Australia, China and NZ.
