Sophie Ball

Sophie moved to New Zealand/Aotearoa in 2009 having completed GP training in the UK.  As well as working clinically in GP in Auckland, she spent 7 years as the Primary Care Mental Health and Addictions Clinical Lead for Counties Manukau DHB, leading the design and implementation of a mental health model for Primary Care, ‘Wellness Support’(replacing CCM depression).  This model won Primary Care Mental Health Model of Care in the 2020 inaugural Primary Healthcare Awards.  Since leaving this role in 2020, she has been the Lead Medical Educator for Auckland South with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practice.  She is co-author of "what do I say next?" a practical guide to mental health conservations in primary care, which will be published by Taylor Francis Group in 2024.
