Antibiotics: DoxyPEP, plus the national antibiotic guidelines

Te Whatu Ora presents Te Tiri Whakāro: Sharing Knowledge, a webinar series to support primary care. 

In this webinar we cover:

  • DoxyPep: Dr Jeannie Oliphant will provide an overview of the guidelines and their implementation.
  • Te Whata Kura, a new national antibiotic guideline to enhance AMS: Dr Stephen Ritchie will discuss the rationale for developing Te Whata Kura to enhance AMS in Aotearoa and to improve equity in antibiotic use. He will talk about the process of developing Te Whata Kura and give a demonstration of its utility. 
  • Clinical Updates with Dr Sue Tutty.

Jeannie Oliphant

Sexual Health Physician

Jeannie is a Sexual Health Physician and the Clinical Director of Auckland Sexual Health Regional Services. She completed specialist qualifications in Sexual Health (FAChSHM) in 2013. Prior to this, she worked as a GP in Whakatane. Jeannie has also worked at the Centre for Youth Health in Counties Manukau and at the Auckland Adult Sexual Assault Service.

Steven Ritchie

Academic Infectious Disease Physician

Steve is an academic infectious disease physician at Te Toka Tumai (Auckland Hospital) and at the University of Auckland. He teaches medical students, pharmacy students, nursing students and nurse prescribers/practitioners about infections and sensible antibiotic use. He is the chair of the Te Toka Tumai Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and has spent recent years researching ways to improve antibiotic use in primary and secondary care.
