FREE WEBINAR: Moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis can have a substantial impact on sleep, daily functioning and quality of life, yet its severity may be underestimated, and treatment escalation can be challenging in primary care.
Dr Karen Koch will review how to recognise and assess atopic dermatitis, distinguish it from common differential diagnoses, and optimise first- and second-line treatment. She will explore when topical treatment may no longer be sufficient and provide an overview of systemic therapies, including the mechanism, efficacy and safety considerations of JAK inhibitors, with a focus on Rinvoq.
The session will help clinicians identify patients who may benefit from specialist referral or treatment escalation, understand how Rinvoq may be incorporated safely into an individualised care plan, and apply evidence-based strategies to support adherence, monitor treatment response and manage potential adverse effects.

Dr Karen Koch is a specialist dermatologist who works as a consultant for Te Whatu Ora Waikato (Health New Zealand) at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand, where she has been practising since 2019. Before relocating to New Zealand, Karen ran a private practice in Johannesburg. She is an executive member of the NZ Dermatological Society and has a special interest in connective tissue disorders and the skin.
