Epilepsy: Considerations for paediatric, and female patients

Video

FREE WEBINAR: Health New Zealand presents Te Tiri Whakāro: Sharing Knowledge, a webinar series to support primary care. This will cover 2 clinical sessions and a standing segment of clinical updates.

Paediatric epilepsy: What would you do?

Children with epilepsy can present with a host of issues. What should you do next? When is it urgent? How much investigation is needed, and when should you refer?

In this short, case-based session, we’ll explore some common - and not-so-common - paediatric epilepsy scenarios, with a focus on the practical decisions that matter in general practice. Come along, test your clinical instincts, and see what you would do.

Contemporary issues for women with epilepsy

This session will focus on some of the unique challenges in managing epilepsy in female patients. The material will cover issues to do with both epilepsy and prescribing of anti-seizure drugs during pregnancy. Information will be presented on the evidence base for starting anti seizure drugs. There will also be a discussion on epilepsy specific problems that can arise during pregnancy and also epilepsy specific issues unique to women (with epilepsy).

General updates

with Sue Tutty.

As always, we will answer as many questions as possible.
