Consultant Psychiatrist
David is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, he has worked for over 25 years in New Zealand in different roles as a forensic, general adult and in the alcohol and drug field.
He was, until 2021 an adult general psychiatrist working in central Auckland helping set up a General Practice Liaison Service. He is now working in the South Island Eating Disorders Service, based in Christchurch. He believes passionately that we all have a role to play in the prevention of mental illness.
He used to be a General Practitioner and is acutely aware that the majority of mental illnesses are managed in General Practice.
