Otis Shirley

Orthopaedic Surgeon

I am a New Zealand trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the surgical management of adult and paediatric spine conditions. I hold consultant positions at both Auckland City and Starship Hospitals, where I provide care to both acute and elective spine patients.

Upon completing my Orthopaedic training, I was honoured to receive the President’s Award for Best Trainee. I then pursued an adult spine fellowship at Auckland City Hospital before moving to Canada for a year.

In Vancouver, I completed a paediatric spine fellowship at British Columbia Children’s Hospital, where I gained valuable experience in vertebral body tethering, a cutting-edge surgical technique for the treatment of scoliosis in young patients.

As a surgeon with expertise in both adult and paediatric spine conditions, I provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages. In addition to my clinical work, I am also involved in teaching and research, and I enjoy exploring the intersection of skills and techniques from the paediatric and adult spine worlds.
