Yena graduated from The University of Auckland Medical School and undertook specialist dermatology training in the Auckland and Waikato regions. She then completed a dermatology fellowship at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London UK, where she subsequently worked as a locum consultant dermatologist before returning to New Zealand.
Yena is currently a consultant dermatologist at Middlemore Hospital and Auckland Dermatology in Remuera. She is involved in the training of dermatology registrars and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the New Zealand Dermatological Society. Her special interests include eczema, psoriasis, skin cancer, skin surgery, acne, and general dermatology.
