A brief descent into diving medicine
Diving is a popular sport in New Zealand. General practitioners and community emergency medicine facilities may encounter divers under various circumstances, but most commonly it will be in relation to 'fitness for diving' issues. Less often, divers suffering medical problems associated with diving may present. This presentation will discuss a framework that allows evaluation of any condition a prospective diver may suffer in relation to its impact on diving fitness. We will also touch briefly on diving emergencies, and how to get help or advice if confronted with such a situation.
