Tackling breast lumps, mastalgia, and when to refer

Speaker
Session Date:

Patients presenting with breast lumps and breast pain are common in general practice. More than 25% of women are affected by breast conditions during their lifetime. Most of these will be benign, with breast cancer only diagnosed in 10% of new breast lumps.

In this practical session, Michael will discuss and provide advice and guidance on:

  • What investigations and interventions are required – e.g. when it is necessary for a triple assessment?
  • How to monitor your patient.
  • Red flag signs and symptoms.
  • Conservative management tips and referral guidance for further treatment with a specialist.
