‘umab? ‘imab? ‘inib? What are these ‘biologics’ we are prescribing?

There is an expanding number of ‘biologics’ that we are continuing to prescribe for on behalf of specialities - gastroenterology, rheumatology, dermatology, neurology ….

We expect that the person has had the benefits and risks of the medicine explained, but what do we need to know and be aware of, especially as these medicines become more commonly used and so more in the realm of our usual primary care prescribing?
