Monique Mackenzie

Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon

Monique specialises in the management of complex skin conditions, skin cancer management and prevention.

She obtained her medical degree at the University of Otago and completed her initial fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners in 2012 before embarking on a further seven years of specialist dermatology training. She is now a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and New Zealand Dermatological Society (FNZDSI).

Her current roles outside of consulting include Editorial Board Member of the Australasian Journal of Dermatology (AJD), Chair of New Zealand Dermatology Registrar Group, Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland, Faculty Member of the Global Indigenous Skin Summit (GISS) and member of the Waikato Hospital Art Group. She holds memberships with the International League of Dermatologists (ILDS), Australasian Society of Cosmetic and Procedural Dermatologists (ASCPD) and European Academy of Dermatology and Venerology (EADV) and frequently speaks on skin cancer prevention, acne and skincare, featuring previously in VIVA and MiNDFOOD magazines as well as MediaWorks radio. Monique has also provided expert advice for both L’Oreal and AbbVie pharmaceuticals.

She is a mother of three children 20,17, and 13, who keep her endlessly entertained, worried, working and grateful.
