Ruth Savage

Senior Medical Assessor, Senior Lecturer

Ruth is a Senior Lecturer in the Dept of General Practice, University of Otago, Christchurch and a Senior Medical Assessor in the Centre for Adverse Reactions Monitoring (CARM), New Zealand Pharmacovigilance Centre, University of Otago. She is a consultant for the Uppsala Monitoring Centre, a WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring.  

Her clinical career has been predominantly in rural general practice.

Her research interests are detection of signals of new adverse reactions or new information about adverse reactions or interactions, appropriate prescribing, and investigation of reported adverse drug reactions by ethnicity.  

She also delivers education to New Zealand health care professionals about adverse reactions and pharmacovigilance (adverse reactions monitoring) and provides international training for the staff of other national pharmacovigilance centres.
